Asymmetrical Balance Control

Video
▶ Watch videoPurpose
Improve foot-and-ankle stability by adapting to an off-center pivot and maintaining control in an asymmetrical position under increasing load.
How to perform
Level 1 — Seated: Guide the heel toward the off-center pivot, allow the opposite edge to rise, then return slowly.
Level 2 — Standing: Repeat the heel shift under body weight while keeping the forefoot stable.
Level 3 — Single-leg hold: Maintain the heel toward the pivot side and keep the opposite edge elevated using small balance corrections. Use light fingertip support as needed.
Duration
Levels 1–2: 8–12 controlled reps per foot. Level 3: hold for 10–20 seconds per foot.
Coaching cues
- Keep the forefoot stable
- Move the heel toward the pivot side
- Control the return without letting the board drop
- Mirror the pivot position before changing feet
Training level
Progress from Level 1 (seated) to Level 3 (single-leg) as control improves.
After mastering Level 3 with the round bars, progress to Level 4 using the triangular bars for greater instability.
