Purpose
Combine lower-body strength with rear-foot balance control, improving coordination through the foot, ankle, knee and hip.
How to perform
Keep the front foot firmly grounded as you lower into a controlled squat. Use the rear foot and ankle to manage the board throughout the movement, then rise smoothly and switch sides.
Duration
6–10 reps per side. Optional: hold the final squat for 5–10 seconds.
Coaching cues
- Keep both knees aligned with the toes
- Keep the board close to level
- Use a comfortable, pain-free squat depth
- Lower and rise at a steady pace
Training level
This exercise is presented as one focused progression.
Once the standard setup feels consistently controlled, progress to the triangular bars for a greater stability challenge.
