Strength & Balance

Purpose

Combine lower-body strength with rear-foot balance control, improving coordination through the foot, ankle, knee and hip.

How to perform

Keep the front foot firmly grounded as you lower into a controlled squat. Use the rear foot and ankle to manage the board throughout the movement, then rise smoothly and switch sides.

Duration

6–10 reps per side. Optional: hold the final squat for 5–10 seconds.

Coaching cues

  • Keep both knees aligned with the toes
  • Keep the board close to level
  • Use a comfortable, pain-free squat depth
  • Lower and rise at a steady pace

Training level

This exercise is presented as one focused progression.

Once the standard setup feels consistently controlled, progress to the triangular bars for a greater stability challenge.
